The Sacrament of Reconciliation
“Christ instituted the sacrament of Penance for all sinful members of his Church… the sacrament of Penance offers a new possibility to convert and to recover the grace of justification” – Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC 1446)
“Confession to a priest is an essential part of the sacrament of Penance,” for the priest is acting in persona Christi (in the person of Christ); while the priest hears your confession, the Lord absolves you of your sins and cleanses your soul (CCC 1456)
“In failing to confess, Lord, I would only hide You from myself, not myself from You” – St. Augustine
“To celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation means to be wrapped in a warm embrace” – Pope Francis
